Latin Star Selena is Shot
On this date in 1995 - In Corpus Christi, Texas, Latin superstar Selena Quintanilla Perez, aged 23, is shot and killed by Yolanda Saldivar, the president of Selena’s own Texas based fan club. Howard Stern who had a popular radio show at the time made fun of Selena which outraged Hispanics across the country. He said, “Alvin and the Chipmunks have more soul”. After a disorderly conduct arrest warrant was issued in his name he was forced to apologize on air. He did so in Spanish.
