On this date in 1978 The Flying Wallendas lost Karl Wallenda, aged 73, (YouTube age listed as 83 is incorrect) to a tight rope accident in San Juan Puerto Rico. A TV crew from San Juan taped the fall, and the video, featuring anchorman Guillermo Jose Torres‘ tragic narration of the fall, was widely circulated and you can see it here.
